29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a) On or about October 12, 2022, the employer did not ensure that the ILAPAK 6000 located on lines 209, 208, 207 and 206 were not adequately guarded in that employees were able to reach under the interlocking doors while operating the press during production to remove jammed film near the blades of the machine, the conveyor is approximately 15 inches wide, the conveyor to interlocking doors is approximately 5.5 to 7.5 inches and the door gap to blade is approximately 16 inches.
