29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Where portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder's length allows, the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface being accessed: a- Clubhouse, 2 Magnolia Drive, Freehold NJ - A worker was exposed to fall hazards, up to and in excess of 12 feet 9 inches to the ground surface below, when accessing and egressing a commercial structure's pitched roof using an unsecure, portable, aluminum extension ladder whose side rails extended approximately 18 inches above the surface being accessed. Condition observed on or about 07/28/22. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
