29 CFR 1910.176(b): Material stored in tiers is not stacked, blocked, interlocked or limited in height so that it was stable and secure against sliding and collapse: a) The employer fails to ensure effective measures to prevent struck-by, trip, and fall hazards, as demonstrated on or about May 23, 2022, and times prior, in the main stockroom where employees move and retrieve stock. Family Dollar Stores of Rhode Island, LLC. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, 29 CFR 1910.176(b), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1454287, Citation number 1, Item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on June 11, 2020, with respect to a workplace located at 214 Taunton Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914. To abate this hazard in the future, the employer must ensure boxed merchandise that is in storage is arranged in a stable manner to prevent it from falling onto or in the path of employees.
