Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.213(r)(4): Suitable guards were not provided to reduce to a minimum the hazard due to the point of operation of inverted swing cut-off (jump) saws: (a) Mill 6, Rip Line - Employees used two Precision Parts Connection LLC inverted swing cut-off (jump) saws, known as Cutter #1 and Cutter #2, to cross cut out bad sections of wood. These saws did not have complete point of operation guarding in that the clamp/guard assembly on each saw did not prevent entry of fingers or hands into the path of the saw blade from the sides and front during operation, exposing employees to the hazard of contact with a rotating saw blade, on or about August 27, 2021. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and state employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
