29 CFR 1910.272(m)(4): The employer did not implement procedures in the grain handling facility for the use of tags and locks which would prevent the inadvertent application of energy or motion to equipment being repaired, serviced, or adjusted, which could result in an employee injury: a) Grain Handling Facility: On May 19, 2021 and at times prior thereto; the employer had not evaluated the necessity of developing and implementing specific energy control procedures for maintenance, specifically hot work, in the basement/tunnel areas of the grain handling facility. A procedure was not developed that would shut off or isolate the north and south bucket elevators, and the common dust collection system. Note) Certification and documentation of corrective action are required for tis item.
