29 CFR 1926.859(g): During demolition, continuing inspections by a competent person were not made as the work progressed to detect hazards resulting from weakened or deteriorated floors, or walls, or loosened material. Employees were also permitted to work where such hazards existed without being corrected by shoring, bracing, or other effective means. a) On or about May 06, 2021, at 18 Luarel Oaks Dr., Winter Springs, Florida, employees who were demolishing an existing second floor balcony of an existing residential building, were exposed to struck-by, falling, and crushing hazards, in that; continuing inspections of the balcony were not made, prior to and during the demolition, to determine the need for the use of shoring, bracing, or other effective means to support the weight of the balcony.
