29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. (a) In the Legacy Department, the #29 CG Bretting Mfg Co (S/N: 2798-80) had an unguarded inrunning nip point of the unwind machine for the roll guard. (b) In the Legacy Department, the #55 CG Bretting Mfg Co (4 Color Letterpress Printer, 10" Repeat, S/N: 2841-80) had the nip guard located by the embossing rollers in the lowered position exposing employees to pinch points. (c) In the Legacy Department, the # 50 CG Bretting Mfg Co had unguarded inrunning nip points on the top ink deck exposing employees to pinch points. (d) In the Legacy Department, the #7 High Speed CG Bretting Mfg Co (LCI Napkin Folder, S/N: 6327-16F) had inrunning nip points by the folding section exposing employees to caught in hazards. (e) In the Legacy Department, the #7 High Speed CG Bretting Mfg Co (LCI Napkin Folder, S/N: 6327-16F) had inrunning nip points by the Cam 0881 Fi Folder (drive side) and folder pull roll wrap up (drive side) exposing employees to caught in hazards. (f) In the Legacy Department, the High Speed #5 had a guard which was easily removed allowing access to rollers during operation exposing employees to pinch hazards. (g) In the Fluted Department, the Fluted Bagger had a damaged interlocked door (Schmeadsal Safety Component) exposing employees to moving parts. (h) By Fashion Point, the Baler by Balemaster had unguarded doors which allowed access to moving parts exposing employees to struck by hazards. (i) In the Lace Department, #330 lace machine had unguarded inrunning nip points on the green belt exposing employees to caught in hazards. (j) In the Lace Department, #330 lace machine had unguarded inrunning nip points on the spaghetti belts exposing employees to caught in hazards.
