29 CFR 1910.132(a): Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered: The employer is failing to ensure that employees are protected from the hazard of ammonia burns. This most recently occurred on April 12, 2019 at 700 East Omaha Ave., Norfolk, Nebraska 68701. The employer is failing to ensure that appropriate personal protective equipment including, but not limited to face shields, full length gloves, impervious aprons, and arm protection, is worn during maintenance work on the facility ammonia refrigeration system. Two employees had ammonia related injuries while performing maintenance activities on the Gram Freezer #8.
