Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.452(w)(6)(ii): Employees were allowed to ride on scaffolds where the height to base width ratio of the scaffold during movement was greater than two to one. This requirement is applicable to general industry work per 29 CFR 1910.27: The employer is failing to protect employees from struck-by and fall hazards while occupying mobile scaffolds while they are moved. This was most recently documented at 2314 E Hwy 30, Grand Island, NE 68802 inside the areas of service bay 4, on or about February 2, 2018 and at times prior when an employee stood on a mobile scaffold while it was moved; the scaffold height to base width ratio exceeded two to one. The total height of the scaffold including installed guardrails is 105" and the least base width is 29" which exposed the employee to a fall of five feet four inches due to potential tipping of the scaffold.
