29 CFR 1910.243(c)(3): Abrasive wheels used on vertical portable grinders (right angle head grinders) were not provided with safety guards having a maximum exposure angle of 180 degrees and located between the operator and wheel: a) Shop- On or about September 20, 2017, employees were exposed to struck-by hazards from a broken grinding wheel, work piece chips and sparks while using the Makita 9557NB 4 1/2" Angle Grinder without a guard. b) Shop- On or about September 20, 2017, employees were exposed to struck-by hazards from a broken grinding wheel and work piece chips and sparks while using the Metabo W780 11,000 RPM 7.2 AMP 4-1/2 inch Angle Grinder without a guard. c) Shop- On or about September 20, 2017, employees were exposed to struck-by hazards from a broken grinding wheel and work piece chips and sparks while using the Metabo Angle Grinder without a guard.
