29 CFR 1910.243(c)(1): Abrasive wheel(s) were used on portable grinder(s) which were not provided with safety guard(s) meeting the requirements specified in 29 CFR 1910.243(c)(1) through (c)(4): a) Outside welding area: A DeWalt portable angle grinder used for precision cutting did not have a guard, on or about 8/11/17 b) Heavy Equipment Shop welding area: A DeWalt portable angle grinder used to smooth surfaces after welding did not have a guard, on or about 8/11/17. c) Heavy Equipment Shop: A DeWalt portable angle grinder used to smooth metal used to make parts of a trailer did not have a guard, on or about 9/8/17. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
