Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)the hazards of being crushed by portions of the trash compactor mechanism of the Amrep model MR-6882 hydraulically actuated front end loaded trash compactor truck chassis tag number JF6-443 property number 591009, due to an uninformed driver's entry into the truck body while power was on to the unit. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to maintain appropriate warning signs at all trash body entry doors, as originally provided by the trash body manufacturer ans as specified by paragraph 7.1.12.3 of American National Standards Institute standard Z245.1-1992 American National Standard for Refuse collection, processing and disposal equipment-Mobile Refuse Collection and Compaction Equipment-Safety Requirements.
