Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling loads: (a) Facility: There are no regularly scheduled inspections being performed on hoists. There was a noticeable kink in the running rope of a three ton hoist located in the large pipe mill. There was also an electrical box (for the controls) that was being held together by electrical tape on a one ton hoist located by the sink bench machine. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM.
