Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(c)(7)(i)(A): Each authorized employee shall receive training in the recognition of applicable hazardous energy sources, the type and magnitude of the energy available in the workplace, and the methods and means necessary for energy isolation and control. The employer is failing to train employees on the hazards associated with operating and maintaining equipment that requires having the hazardous energy isolated prior to operating or maintaining it. The most recent occurrence of this was evident during the inspection of the facility located at 13800 S. 54th Street, Roca, NE; where the employer has inadequately trained maintenance employees replacing and repairing equipment that requires the isolation of hazardous stored energy. Instances of exposure include but are not limited to: i. Employees maintaining the trucks and trailers have never seen or heard of written specific procedures. ii. Employees repairing/replacing tarp control arm assemblies without having been trained and evaluated on the application of a written specific procedure. iii. Employees maintaining the Freightliner material trucks (dump trucks) dump bed without having been trained and evaluated on the application of a written specific procedure.
