Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.134(i)(8): Breathing air couplings were not incompatible with other gas systems to prevent inadvertent servicing of air line respirators with non-respirable gases or oxygen: Powder coating area. On or about July 13, 2016 and at times prior thereto, air couplers used to supply breathing air were compatible with the quick connect 1/4 inch coupler used for the air gun. Employees were exposed to inhalation hazards of including, but not limited to: carbon monoxide, water vapor, oil/oil mists. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation describing the steps taken to ensure breathing air couplings are incompatible with other air systems to protect employees from respiratory injury or death.
