29 CFR 1926.652(c): Designs of support systems, shield systems, and other protective systems was not selected and constructed by the employer or his designee and was not in accordance with the requirements of paragraph (c)(1); or, in the alternative, paragraph (c)(2); or, in the alternative, paragraph (c)(3); or, in the alternative, paragraph (c)(4) as follows: a) The employer did not protect each worker in its trenches and excavations by properly designing wood shoring in that 3/4" inch wide 4' x 8' plywood was substituted for uprights, and three 2" x 4"s nailed together were used as cross braces. Wood materials utilized in the wood shoring were not in compliance with OSHA Subpart P Appendix C Table C-1.1 Timber Trench Shoring - Minimum Timber Requirements for a trench depth of 5 to 10 feet. Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item.
