Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 004 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Bldg 19 Welding Area; On or about March 5, 2015 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to caught-in / amputation hazards in that employees were allowed to operate the Lion Lathe without a chuck guard. b) Bldg 12 Welding Shop; On or about March 5 2015 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to caught-in / amputation hazards in that employees were allowed to operate the Enco lathe without a chuck guard. c) Perma-Cast Line 5 and 6; On or about March 5, 2015 and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to caught-in hazards in that employees were allowed to walk and work in close proximity of spinning column mold machines that were not guarded.
