29 CFR 1910.107(c)(6): Electrical wiring and equipment not subject to deposits of combustible residues but located in a spraying area as herein defined shall be of explosion-proof type approved for Class I, group D locations and shall otherwise conform to the provisions of subpart S of this part, for Class I, Division 1, Hazardous Locations. Electrical wiring, motors, and other equipment outside of but within twenty (20) feet of any spraying area, and not separated therefrom by partitions, shall not produce sparks under normal operating conditions and shall otherwise conform to the provisions of subpart S of this part for Class I, Division 2 Hazardous Locations: (a)American Engineered Products, LLC at 605 4th Street Southeast, De Smet, SD 57231: On or about and at times prior to May 16, 2023, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from fire, or explosive hazards in that exposed wires in an open box on the wall behind the powder coat booth were not covered within an intrinsically safe or explosion proof box. This condition exposed employees to fire and explosion hazards. (b)American Engineered Products, LLC at 605 4th Street Southeast, De Smet, SD 57231: On or about and at times prior to May 16, 2023, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from fire, or explosive hazards in that the electrical duplex outlet box in the powder coat booth area was not intrinsically safe. This condition exposed employee to fire and explosion hazards. (c)American Engineered Products, LLC at 605 4th Street Southeast, De Smet, SD 57231: On or about and at times prior to May 16, 2023, there was a relocatable power tap (outlet strip) that the spray gun was plugged into in the powder coat booth area position 1 (front) that was not intrinsically safe for that location. This condition exposed employee to fire and explosion hazards. (d)American Engineered Products, LLC at 605 4th Street Southeast, De Smet, SD 57231: On or about and at times prior to May 16, 2023, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from fire or explosive hazards in that the machine/equipment next to the powder coat booth had an open flame within 20 feet of the booth area was not intrinsically safe. This condition exposed employee to fire and explosion hazards.
