Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003D Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7): Industrial trucks were not examined before being placed in service: a) On or about April 23, 2021, and at times prior, the employer required employees to operate forklifts to move wood and truss material at the production and yard area and exposed them to hazards. The employer did not have an effective forklift examination program in place to identify defects. One forklift was missing a seat belt, another had a back-up alarm that was not working, and forklifts had three broken seats. The defective forklifts were placed in service for the employees to use.
