29 CFR 1910.147(c)(7)(i): The employer did not provide training to ensure that the purpose and function of the energy control program were understood by authorized, affected, and other employees and that the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage, and removal of the energy controls were acquired by authorized employees: a) Production floor, Erema Machines: On March 24, 2021 and at times prior, the employer exposed employees engaged in servicing and maintenance activities to amputation hazards in that the lockout/tagout training provided to employees was not sufficient to ensure that employees had the knowledge and skills required to effectively use the lockout/tagout procedures to secure the hazardous energy present on the equipment. b) Production floor, Cutter Compactors: On March 24, 2021 and at times prior, the employer exposed employees engaged in servicing and maintenance activities to struck-by, thermal, and entrapment hazards in that the lockout/tagout training provided to employees was not sufficient to ensure that employees had the knowledge and skills required to effectively use the lockout/tagout procedures to secure the hazardous energy present on the equipment.
