Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003C Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.219(d)(1): Pulleys with parts seven feet or less from the floor or work platform were not guarded in accordance with the requirements specified in 29 CFR 1910.219(m) and (o): (a)On or about May 13, 2024, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure employees were protected from the in-running nip point hazard associated with the cover not adequately guarding the belt and pulley system powering the Delta drill press, Serial #9111. The separation between the upper pulley cover and the lower pulley cover assembly was approximately an inch and did not fully enclose the belt and pulley exposing employees to in-running nip points. The latch mechanism was damaged and did not effectively secure the pulley covers. This condition exposed the employees to abrasions, lacerations and fractures.
