29 CFR 1910.23(e)(1): A standard railing did not consist of top rail, intermediate rail, and posts, and did not have a vertical height of 42 inches nominal from upper surface of top rail to floor, platform, runway, or ramp level: a/ Inside of Building #2, specifically along the east side of the gear box adjacent to a designated aisleway, an open pit that measured approximately 23"W X 17"D X 62"L was provided with a standard guardrail system that was approximately five feet long. The vertical height of the top rail was approximately 36 inches.
