Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003B Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.503(a)(1): The employer did not provide a training program for each employee potentially exposed to fall hazards to enable each employee to recognize the hazards of falling and the procedures to be followed in order to minimize these hazards: (a) 519 Heritage Road: An employee was exposed to a fall hazard of 13 feet 5 inches (eave to ground height) to the ground below while standing on a shingled roof with a slope of 8:12. The employee was on the roof to install trusses for a front porch overhang. The employer did not provide the employee training on the recognition of fall hazards and the procedures to minimize the fall hazards, such as when fall protection was required, as determined on April 12, 2013. (b) 519 Heritage Road: Two employees were exposed to a fall hazard of 15 feet 3 inches to the ground below while sitting on laminated veneer lumber (LVL) beams. The employees were on the LVL beams to install trusses for a front porch overhang. The employer did not provide the employee training on the recognition of fall hazards and the procedures to minimize the fall hazards, such as when fall protection was required, as determined on April 12, 2013.
