29 CFR 1910.334(a)(2)(ii): If there is a defect or evidence of damage that might expose an employee to injury, the defective or damaged item shall be removed from service, and no employee may use it until repairs and tests necessary to render the equipment safe have been made. On or about September 17, 2024, at an establishment located at 212501 State Highway 97 in Stratford, WI employees exposed to electrical and fire hazards by not removing damaged electrical cords from service in the following areas: a) In the roofing department the employer did not protect employees and remove a damaged extension cord being utilized to operate a miter saw. b) On the south line, the employer did not protect employees and remove a damaged plug and cord set from service.
