Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1026(f)(1)(i): Feasible engineering controls and work practices were not instituted to reduce and maintain employee exposures to chromium (VI) at or below the permissible exposure limit: On or about April 10, 2024, an employee welding on stainless steel in the weld shop was exposed to chromium (VI) at an 8-hour Time-Weighted Average (TWA) of 0.016 mg/m3 during the 455 minute sampling period. This is 3.2 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.005 mg/m3. Exposure calculations include a zero exposure increment for the 25 minutes not sampled. Feasible engineering controls were not instituted to reduce and maintain employee exposures below the PEL.
