Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003B Hazard:

29 CFR 1910.107(b)(5)(i): The average air speed over the open face of the paint spray booth was less than 60 linear feet per minute and, there were no visible gauges, audible alarms or pressure activated devices installed in paint spray booths to indicate or ensure that the required air speed was maintained. (a)American Engineered Products, LLC at 605 4th Street Southeast, De Smet, SD 57231: On or about and at times prior to May 16, 2023, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from fire, explosive, or respiratory hazards in that the Powder Coat Booth did not have a functioning manometer to ensure that the required air velocity of 60 linear feet per minute was maintained. This condition exposed employees to fire, explosion and respiratory hazards in that they would not know when fresh air velocity was reduced or if it was adequate. (b)American Engineered Products, LLC at 605 4th Street Southeast, De Smet, SD 57231: On or about and at times prior to May 16, 2023, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from fire, explosion, or respiratory hazards in that the Powder Coat Booth did not maintain the required 60 linear feet per minute air velocity as the average velocity of Booth 1 (front) was 41.75 feet/min and the average velocity of Booth 2 (back) was 59.5 feet/minute. This condition exposed employees to fire, explosion and respiratory hazards.
