Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003B Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(4): Ladders were used for purposes other than the purpose for which they were designed: (a)H & W Contracting, L.L.C. at 271st Street and Kerslake Place, Tea, SD 57064: On or about and at times prior to November 16, 2021, the employer did not ensure that the ladder used to egress a trench excavation was suitable for that job. Employees were using the fly section of an extension ladder which does not have feet on the bottom to stabilize the ladder from becoming upset. This condition exposed four employees to fall hazards of seven feet.
