29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv): Flexible cords and/ or cables were used for purposes prohibited by paragraphs (A) through (F) of 29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv): a) Northeast Bay Door, Center Rack: On or about October 22, 2020, lighting fixtures were powered with a flexible extension cord permanently installed to the rack system near the tire maintenance station. The extension cord was spliced and hardwired into the light fixture housing and attached to the rack with tape and staples, exposing employees to fire and electrical hazards. b) Northwest Bay Door, bottom of Center Rack: On or about October 22, 2020, lighting fixtures were powered with a flexible extension cord permanently installed to the rack system near the tire maintenance station. The cord was observed running through openings in racking, on the floor, and through stored items on floor. This condition subjected the extension cord to damage and exposed employees to fire and electrical hazards. c) Northwest Bay Door, First Rack, bottom shelf: On or about October 22, 2020, lighting fixtures were powered with a flexible extension cord permanently installed to the rack system and used when performing vehicle maintenance. The cord was observed running through openings in racking which subjected the cord to damage, exposing employees to fire and electrical hazards.
