29 CFR 1926.1053(b): Use. The following requirements apply to the use of all ladders, including job-made ladders, except as otherwise indicated: 29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(4): Ladders shall be used only for the purpose for which they were designed. a. On or about October 2, 2019 for the worksite at 619 Ludham Trail NW, Pickerington, Ohio, an A-frame ladder was used in a manner other than the design. The ladder was used in the closed position; in that the legs were not opened to assure the rails were completely spread, with the spreader bar locked in position and the ladder feet securely in position. Due to this condition, employees were exposed to increased risk for fall during use of the ladder to access and egress from the job made work platform.
