29 CFR 1910.1026(f)(1)(i): Feasible engineering controls and work practices were not instituted to reduce and maintain employee exposures to chromium (VI) at or below the permissible exposure limit: Employees engaged in welding activities in the welding bay were exposed to health hazards associated with hexavalent chromium in that all feasible means of engineering controls were not assessed and implemented. (a) Employee engaged in welding activities in the welding bay was exposed to hexavalent chromium at an eight-hour time-weighted average level of 11.9 microgram per cubic meter, which exceeds the OSHA PEL of 5 microgram per cubic meter during 480 minutes of personal air sampling performed on January 19, 2018. (b) Employee engaged in welding activities in the welding bay was exposed to hexavalent chromium at an eight-hour time-weighted average level of 6.4 microgram per cubic meter, which exceeds the OSHA PEL of 5 microgram per cubic meter during 480 minutes of personal air sampling performed on January 19, 2018.
