Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A): Flexible cords and/or cables were used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure: Work benches in garage, Foley Transportation, 235 Taylor St., Springfield, Massachusetts; On and before November 7, 2017, employees used homemade extension cords with junction boxes that had equipment permanently plugged in. One cord was run under the dirt and gravel floor from the west wall to the workbench where it was exposed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The use of extension cords in lieu of permanent wiring exposes employees to electrical shock hazards from the 120 volt sources.
