29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch: a) Heavy Equipment Shop: A Baldor bench grinder, model 1022W serial number F387, did not have a tongue guard and the opening between the periphery of the machine and the grinding wheel exceed 1/4 inches, on or about 8/11/17. b) Truck Shop: A bench grinder (no label available) did not have a tongue guard and the opening between the periphery and the wheel measured one inch, on or about 8/11/17. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
