Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.134(i)(5)(i): Compressors used to supply breathing air to respirators were not so constructed and situated so as to prevent entry of contaminated air into the air-supply system: On or about July 13, 2016 and at times prior there to, the employer did not provide dedicated compressor lines to supply breathing air for the employees using the supplied air system during powder coating operations. Employees were exposed to inhalation hazards of including, but not limited to: carbon monoxide, water vapor, oil/oil mists. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation describing the steps taken to ensure compressed air used for respirators is supplied from a dedicated air line for breathing air purposes only to protect employees from respiratory injury or death.
