29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(22): Employees using ladders were carrying objects or loads that could cause the employee to lose balance and fall: The employer is failing to protect employees from fall hazards associated with carrying objects in their hands while they are using a ladder as a means of access and egress to upper landing surfaces on construction sites. The most recent occurrence of this took place on August 3, 2015 at the job site located at 416 N. Jeffers St. in North Platte, Nebraska, where the employer had an employee carrying 3-4 2 foot long steel angle iron while climbing the Keller 25 foot aluminum extension ladder to access the decking the company was installing, the ladder was extended two rungs above the edge and when he attempted to transition from the ladder to the deck he lost his grip and fell 16 feet to the steps below.
