29 CFR 1926.55(a): Employee(s) were exposed to material(s) at concentrations above those specified in the Threshold Limit Values of Airborne Contaminants for 1970 of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists: a) Painting/Blasting Area - On or about August 7, 2014 where an employee wearing a 3M half mask respirator while operating a sand pot during sandblasting activities was overexposed to total silica dust at an 8 hour Time Weighted Average of 31.42 million particles per cubic feet (mppcf) during a 270 minute sampling period. This exposure is approximately 4.4 times the daily permissible exposure limit of 7.143 mppcf. Exposure calculations included a zero increment for the 210 minutes not sampled. b) Painting/Blasting Area - On or about August 8, 2014 where an employee wearing a Bullard air supplied respirator while engaged in sandblasting activities was overexposed to total silica dust at an 8 hour Time Weighted Average of 71.76 mppcf during a 360 minute sampling period.
