29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): 29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c): (a) 110 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, Pennsylvania - On or about April 19, 2013, an employee worked in a trench, dug in Type B soil at best, to connect new sanitary sewer piping. The trench where the employee worked had a depth of 7 feet 4 inches, had vertical side walls, and had no cave-in protection. On April 19, 2013, the western wall of the trench collapsed. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and state employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
