29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards were present, or were likely to be present, which necessitated the use of personal protective equipment: (a) 600 Block of Taylor Road, Windsor, Pennsylvania - The employer did not assess the workplace to determine whether hazards existed which necessitated the use of personal protective equipment. The employer used a chain saw to trim and fell trees, and employees worked on the ground during this type of operation, exposing employees to an overhead hazard from dropped tools, branches, etc. Also, an employee worked on the ground using a chain saw to limb and buck felled trees, exposing the employee to struck-by hazards from flying wood and bark, on or about December 13, 2012. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and shall state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
