29 CFR 1910.36(b)(1): At least two exit routes were not available in the workplace to permit prompt evacuation of employees and other building occupants during an emergency, except as allowed in paragraph (b)(3) of this section. a) Ammonia Room - There was only one emergency exit located in the ammonia room. IIAR Bulletin No. 112 (6/98) 4.2.1b requires that there be two exits from an ammonia machinery room. On or about 2/8/12. ABATEMENT NOTE: The exit routes must be located as far away as practical from each other so that if one exit route is blocked by a release of anhydrous ammonia, employees can evacuate using the second exit route. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
