29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, and rotating parts: a) On or about January 27, 2024, the employer failed to ensure that the guard for a Altec DC 1317 wood chipper was secured when in operation, exposing employees to caught-in/struck by hazards from unguarded rotating machine parts. b) On or about January 27, 2024, the employer allowed employees to operate an Altec DC 1317 wood chipper with the electronic safety device (sensor) being by-passed, exposing employees to caught-in/struck by hazards from unguarded rotating machine parts.
