Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.37(b)(5): Each doorway or passage along an exit access that could be mistaken for an exit was not marked "Not an Exit" or similar designation, or be identified by a sign indicating its actual use (e.g. closet): (a)Protective Coating Specialists, Inc. at 1350 7th Street Northwest, Huron, SD 57350: On or about and at times prior to December 4, 2023, the employer did not ensure that the exterior door along the west side of the Main Line alley was clearly identified as not being an emergency exit in that the door was identified as both an emergency exit by illuminated signage and a "Not an Exit" Placard. The door discharged into an enclosed outdoor environment and should not be used as an emergency exit. Use of this door in the event of an emergency could prevent employees from reducing their exposure to incipient hazards, e.g. a fire.
