29 CFR 1910.303(b)(6): Deteriorating agents. Unless identified for use in the operating environment, no conductors or equipment shall be located in damp or wet locations; where exposed to gases, fumes, vapors, liquids, or other agents that have a deteriorating effect on the conductors or equipment; or where exposed to excessive temperatures. At an establishment located at 805 Ogden Street in Marinette, Wisconsin: a) On or about May 12, 2023, in the Mill Room on Line 5B, a flexible cord used to provide power from a retractable flexible cable reel outlet to the Sprayer Conveyor #5 was not approved for the environmental conditions of use and location. The extension cord was wrapped around the structural supports of two conveyors, fed underneath the conveyors where it was sprayed with Eaglite Rust Guard 440 Liquid, a corrosive liquid, and wrapped around the power box for Sprayer Conveyor #5. The cord was not identified for use to withstand the wet environment and potential physical damage created by the corrosive fluid.
