29 CFR 1910.178(l)(3)(i): Training program content. Powered industrial truck operators shall receive initial training in the following topics, except in topics which the employer can demonstrate are not applicable to safe operation of the truck in the employer's workplace. Truck-related topics: (G) Fork and attachment adaptation, operation, and use limitations; (H) Vehicle capacity; (I) Vehicle stability; a) On or about June 14, 2023, the employer did not ensure that motorized pallet jack operators were adequately trained to understand the use limitations of loading 90 inch forks with 3 full metal carts at the same time. The operators did not adequately understand the vehicle's capacities and how to equally distribute the weight for 3 full metal carts with different weights per cart. First cart weighed 548 pounds, the middle cart weighed 1011 pounds and the cart farthest from the operator weighed 1025 pounds.
