29 CFR 1910.219(d)(1): Guarding. Pulleys, any parts of which are seven (7) feet or less from the floor or working platform, shall be guarded in accordance with the standards specified in paragraphs (m) and (o) of this section. Pulleys serving as balance wheels (e.g., punch presses) on which the point of contact between belt and pulley is more than six feet six inches (6 ft. 6 in.) from the floor or platform may be guarded with a disk covering the spokes Employer is failing to protect employees from amputation and , laceration hazards. This was most recently documented on March 17, 2021 in the facility located at at 2900 C Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68107 in the milling area of the facility. Where the employer has employees operating, maintaining and adjusting the milling machines while exposed to inadequately guarded belts and pulleys. Instances in the Grinder Room of the facility include but are not limited to: i. 3 BKC #3 16 GET inadequate guard over the belt and pulley assembly. ii. 4 BKC #3 20 AD inadequate guard over the belt and pulley assembly iii. 1 M #5 36 STV inadequate guard over the belt and pulley assembly iv. 2 M #4 36 STV inadequate guard over the belt and pulley assembly v. 2 LG 36 STV inadequate guard over the belt and pulley assembly Instances in the 3rd Floor Mill of the facility include but are not limited to: vi. 3 BKF #2 18 AD inadequate guard over the belt and pulley assembly vii. 4 BKF #1 24 AD inadequate guard over the belt and pulley assembly
