29 CFR 1910.184(d): Each day before being used, the sling and all fastenings and attachments were not being inspected for damage or defects by a competent person designated by the employer: On or about 8/13/15, the employer failed to ensure that the sling being used in the yard to lift vehicle engines/parts, was inspected prior to being used. The synthetic sling, unknown make and model number, was tied to the Hyster H80FT forklift forks to raise and lower a Toyota engine that had been removed from a vehicle chassis. The sling was frayed, torn, and missing an identification tag with load ratings.
