29 CFR 1910.147(c)(4)(i): Procedures were not developed, documented and utilized for the control of potentially hazardous energy when employees were engaged in activities covered by this section: At facility: The employer did not utilize procedures to control employee exposures to potentially hazardous energy when they (1) lift the lid of a ribbon blender to add ingredients, inspect the consistency of the mix, and, when needed, use a brush to reach into the hopper to stir/clear/dislodge products being blended and clean the inside walls/edges or (2) clean the hopper (all interior parts, including the blades) of a ribbon blender at the end of the work day or after a change in batches (e.g., when switching from regular breadcrumbs to Italian seasoned breadcrumbs); Condition was noted on 01/15/19. Instances: a) Line 7 Ribbon Blender; b) Line 1 Ribbon Blender; c) Line 2 Ribbon Blender; d) Line 3 Ribbon Blender; & e) Line 5 Ribbon Blender. IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1,000.00 AS PER 29 CFR 1903.
