Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.213(r)(4): The mention of specific machines in paragraphs (a) thru (q) and this paragraph (r) of this section, inclusive, is not intended to exclude other woodworking machines from the requirement that suitable guards and exhaust hoods be provided to reduce to a minimum the hazard due to the point of operation of such machines. On or about September 25, 2018, the CTD Machines, Inc. Bead Cutter, Serial # L15130, was not effectively guarded to prevent employees from reaching the point of operation including: a) On September 20, 2018, the left side pneumatic air control button was stuck in the engaged position allowing the CTD Machines, Inc. Bead Cutter, Serial # L15130 to cycle with only one of the two controls having to be pushed. b) On September 25, 2018, the Renco Inc., Two Handed No-tie-down Control, Model REN23-3W installed on the CTD Machines, Inc. Bead Cutter, Serial # L15130 was not recessed far enough back to prevent employees from engaging both controls while portions of their hands were still in the point of operation.
