Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. Alkon Corporation - Fremont, Ohio: On or about September 6, 2018, employees that operated the 1014 Davenport #8 were exposed to injury from pinch points and rotating parts created by the machine's moving parts such as, but not limited to, the cam and auger. The machine was not adequately guarded in that employees were not prevented from accessing the hazard areas during operation. b. Alkon Corporation - Fremont, Ohio: On or about September 6, 2018, employees that operated the 1016 Davenport #9 were exposed to injury from pinch points and rotating parts created by the machine's moving parts such as, but not limited to, the cam and auger. The machine was not adequately guarded in that employees were not prevented from accessing the hazard areas during operation and when utilizing the machines controls. c. Alkon Corporation - Fremont, Ohio: On or about September 6, 2018, employees that operated the 1018 Davenport #11 were exposed to injury from pinch points and rotating parts created by the machine's moving parts such as, but not limited to, the cam and auger. The machine was not adequately guarded in that employees were not prevented from accessing the hazard areas during operation.
