29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE): a) On or about 7/11/2018, Throughout the facility: The employer had not assessed the workplace to determine what hazards were present and what PPE was needed. Employees were utilizing and exposed to caustic and corrosive chemicals such as, but not limited to cleaning chemicals . Employees were also exposed to steam pipes which were lacking insulation. No PPE was provided to ensure that employees were protected from thermal burns, or in the alternative, insulate the steam pipes. Abatement certification is required for this item.
