Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.23(b)(9): Ladders were not inspected before the initial use in each work shift, or more frequently as necessary, to identify any visible defects that could cause injury: a. On or about March 15, 2018, employees were exposed to fall hazards when the (3-step) mobile ladder stand on line 4 had not been inspected to discover that it was not steady when used or discover damage such as, but not limited to, a bent step support, a bent hand rail, and a missing rubber foot b. On or about March 15, 2018, employees were exposed to slip and fall hazards when the job-made mobile ladder stand on line 4 had not been inspected to discover damage such as, but not limited to, skid resistant material on multiple steps that had worn off and not been replaced, skid resistant material that was loose and not completely adhered to the smooth metal steps, and a wheel that would not turn. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
