29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(5)(i): Non-self-supporting ladders were not used at an angle such than the horizontal distance from the top support to the foot of the ladder way approximately one-quarter of the working length of the ladder (the distance along the ladder between the foot and the top support): a) Worksite (Front Exterior) - 22 Harmony Lane, Westbury, NY: An employee was working from a 40 ft. Werner Portable Extension Ladder that was set up at approximately 17 ft. high and extended approximately 8 ft. away from the house. The horizontal distance from the top support to the foot of the ladder was approximately one-half of the working length of the ladder, exposing employees to fall hazards; on or about 5/1/17. b) Worksite (Front Exterior) - 22 Harmony Lane, Westbury, NY: An employee was working from a 24 ft. Werner Portable Extension Ladder that was set up at approximately 13 ft. high and extended approximately 6 ft. 10 in. away from the house. The horizontal distance from the top support to the foot of the ladder was approximately one-half of the working length of the ladder, exposing employees to fall hazards; on or about 5/1/17. Abatement documentation required for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
